Answer the following questions in no less than 300 words but no greater than 1000 words put together...
Character's background (their past and present): Carson @ Stargate Wikia
Character's personality: If there’s one word that can describe Dr. Carson Beckett, it’s “kind.” There was, apparently, no man more liked than Carson on Atlantis. He never had any altercations with anyone, always treated everyone with respect, and was as caring as he was skilled with a scalpel.

Despite this, however, Carson can be a bit of a coward when it comes to non-medical emergencies, in particular when it comes to operating Ancient Technology. Part of this is due to his sheer terror at operating a Control Chair, being fully aware of what it can do, he doesn’t want to accidentally set something off and kill someone… Especially as that nearly happened in Antarctica with a helicopter and a drone.

He dislikes killing and violence, mostly due to being a doctor. He resists Military command due to being a civilian doctor and, as CMO of Atlantis, is quite firm in his orders when dealing with unruly patients. Usually, people pay attention to him, and he has a solid, but caring, presence when in his element in the OR or in the field.

In medical situations, Carson’s composure is beyond compare. Even in the unchartered territories of the Pegasus Galaxy, he has kept his wits under pressure. A key example being the tricky removal of a Wraith tracking device from a Runner’s spine, it being done with the patient still awake and sat upright, despite Carson’s protests that he might sever his spinal column if there was one wrong move. He managed to complete the surgery successfully.

All in all, Carson is a kind, caring and considerate man. He might be a little cowardly in combat situations, but he’s one of the best medics the SGC and the Atlantis Expedition has to offer. His skill and composure in this area make him a valuable member of any team.
Character's skills/abilities/powers: Carson is a skilled surgeon, often known as the best surgeon in two galaxies. He has considerable knowledge of human and Wraith physiology, is an extremely competent geneticist, and even knows a thing or two about the Ancients and Ascended Beings. He possesses the ATA (Ancient Technology Activation) gene, which he discovered, and is the third-most potent carrier of the gene behind John Sheppard and Jack O’Neill. He’s competent with firearms, but prefers not to use them.
Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.: 1x Atlantis Headset
1x Ancient Life-Signs detector
1x Ancient Medical Scanner
Are you bringing your character to [community profile] ten_fwd from another game? If you are, which game?: No
If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s): N/A
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them? Carson has always been a character close to my heart, and playing him in a game I enjoy would be the best way to get him some use. His adaptability in new situations will help out the crew, too.
